Muscoril caps detailed information:

Muscoril (thiocolchicoside), a semi-synthetic derivative of colchicoside, is used in topical formulations for its anti-inflammatory and muscle-relaxant properties. It is muscle relaxant agent with analgesic actions and is used topically for the treatment of muscular spasms and for rheumatologic, orthopedic, and traumatologic disorders.

Muscoril is a drug with the capacity to reduce muscle tone and may either be a peripherally acting muscle relaxant such as curare and act to produce blockade at the neuromuscular junction (and thus useful in surgery), or act as a centrally acting muscle relaxant exerting its effects within the brain and spinal cord to diminish muscle tone (and thus useful in muscle spasm or spasticity).

Thiocolchicoside (TCC) is a non-sedating muscle relaxant that has been shown to be safe and effective as monotherapy in the treatment of this problem. Thiocolchicoside Muscoril, a muscle relaxant agent, is frequently administered in association regimen with other drugs, such as anti-inflammatory drugs or vitamins. The muscle-relaxing effects of this class of medication are most likely the result of their ability to depress the central nervous system. It is also called sedative.

Muscle relaxant thiocolchicoside acts both in contractures of central origin and in those of reflex type, rheumatic and traumatic. Spastic sequelae of hemiparesis, Parkinson’s disease and latrogenic Parkinsonian symptoms, particularly the neurodyslectic syndrome. Acute and chronic lumbar and sciatic pain, cervico-brachial neuralgia, persistent torticollis, post-traumatic and post-operative pain. It acts in the central nervous system (CNS) to produce their muscle relaxant effects. Their actions in the CNS may also produce some of their side effects.

Muscoril is used to relax certain muscles in your body and relieve the stiffness, pain, and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, or other injury to your muscles. However, Muscoril do not take the place of rest, exercise or physical therapy. Muscle relaxant Muscoril is effective in the management of non-specific low back pain, but the adverse effects require that it be used with caution.
