What is HGH - Jintropin?
HGH - Jintropin is a prescription drug and a kind of human growth hormones. Growth hormones are naturally present in the body and are responsible for natural growth of individuals. HGH - Jintropin is used in individuals with inadequate growth hormone. The drug regulates the level of growth hormone in the body, thus assisting natural growth in children as well as adults. The drug is also used for treating chronic kidney failure, prevent weight loss in AIDS patients, treat short bowel syndrome as well as Turner syndrome.
Precautions/side effects of HGH - Jintropin
Patients allergic to HGH - Jintropin or other synthetic growth hormones or drug preservatives such as glycerin or benzyl alcohol should refrain from taking the drug. HGH - Jintropin is a Category B pregnancy drug. Thus, it may have adverse effects on the newborn child as well as the fetus. Thus, pregnant women as well as women who are breastfeeding should take this drug only after consultation with a doctor.
HGH - Jintropin is also known to have certain side effects such as headache, swelling or redness at the site of the injection, stiffness in the joints, inflammation of the hands or legs, flu like symptoms etc. However, in some cases, serious side effects may show up to the drug such as increased urination, sudden changes in vision, pain in the abdomen which may spread to the back, neck etc. If any of these symptoms show up after taking HGH - Jintropin, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
Important safety information

- When taking HGH - Jintropin for treating short bowel syndrome, citrus fruit juices as well as aerated beverages should be avoided as they are known to worsen the condition and inhibit the functioning of the drug.
- For patients with Pader-Willi syndrome, signs of breathlessness or increased coughing while on HGH - Jintropin should immediately be referred to a doctor.
Dosage of HGH - Jintropin
HGH - Jintropin is available as injections which are to be administered under the skin. The usual dosage of the drug for treating growth hormone deficiency is 0.006 mg/kg of body weight everyday. This dosage may be increased upto 0.125 mg/kg of body weight depending on the response of the patient. The usual dosage of HGH - Jintropin for treating short bowel syndrome is 0.1 mg/kg of body weight everyday for a period of 4 weeks. The usual dosage of HGH - Jintropin for treating growth hormone deficiency in children is 0.24 mg/kg of body weight everyday. However, the actual dosage may vary depending on the diagnosis and the actual response of the patient.
The drug is to be administered under the skin or muscle. It should not be administered intravenously. The drug can be self administered after the physician has taught the exact procedure for administration of the drug. The same area should not be used on two consecutive days for injecting HGH - Jintropin. Different areas should be used everyday. Some good areas for injecting the drug are thighs, arms and stomach.
The vial is not be shaken before use as it may damage the consistency of the drug.
The overdose of the drug should be avoided at all costs. If a dose is missed, it should be had soon as possible. However, it should not be clubbed with the next dose. Overdose of the drug can lead to severe symptoms such as blurred vision, vomiting etc. which require immediate medical attention.
Storage of HGH - Jintropin
The drug is to be stored at room temperature away from direct sunlight. It should be kept away form reach of children as well as pets at all times.
