Viagra - sildenafil is used to treat male sexual function problems (impotence or erectile dysfunction) by blocking a certain enzyme (phosphodiesterase-PDE5) in the body. In combination with sexual stimulation, sildenafil works by helping the blood flow into the penis to achieve and maintain an erection. New research presented shows, that daily use of Viagra can actually reverse the impotence problem. The study compared men who took Viagra on an as needed basis, and a group that got 50 milligrams of Viagra nightly at bedtime. On year later, only 9.7 percent of those who got Viagra on an as needed basis had normal potency based on a questionnaire; but in the nightly group, 59% had normal potency. What they demonstrated was that on those who took Viagra daily, there was improvement in arterial flow as compared to when they started. The thinking is the use of Viagra prevented muscle wasting in the genital area. Its composed of smooth muscle, and if you don't use it, smooth muscle undergoes atrophy, atrophy and collage replacement. And collagen when it replaces smooth muscles causes inelasticity.
