Clenbuterol asthma medication precautions

It is important to understand the differences among various types of asthma medications. Using the wrong medication to treat an asthma attack can lead to serious side effects. You should to talk to your healthcare provider about when exactly and how to use your different asthma medications.

Clenbuterol side effects and how to deal with them

Side effects of using Clenbuterol can include: dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, increased sweating, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, chest pain, nervousness, muscle cramps, tremors, insomnia, light-headedness, heartburn, face flushes, blood pressure rise.

Most side effects subside within a week, but since every patient reacts differently, it is wise to follow some advice and precaution.

To help prevent insomnia, it is recommended that tablets are not taken too close to bedtime.

Muscle cramps can be minimized by drinking lots of water (12-16 pints/7-9 litres), eating lots of potassium rich food (e.g. bananas) and oranges. Alternatively, take 200-400mg potassium tablets on an empty stomach before bed. Taurine in doses of 3-5mg is also recommended to minimise cramps.

If headache occur take Tylenol as soon as the headache starts for best effect.

Do not use Clenbuterol too close to a workout, because of its bronchodilation effects.

Clenbuterol contraindications

Do not use Clenbuterol if you:

  • have high blood pressure
  • have cardio-vascular disease
  • have cardiac rhythm disturbances
  • are currently taking or have recently taken MAO inhibitor medications.
  • are taking beta-blockers (they block the action of clenbuterol)
  • are taking cardiac glucosides (causes disturbance of the cardiac rhythm and increases toxicity of drug)
  • are taking CNS stimulants (eg. Ephedrine), as the negative side effects would be exacerbated.
  • are taking insulin (clenbuterol weakens the effect of insulin and other anti-diabetic drugs)
  • are pregnant
  • are hypersensitive

Use clenbuterol with caution in patients who have:

  • diabetes
  • coronary artery disease
  • congestive heart failure
  • hyperthyroidism
  • latent or clinically recognized angle closure glaucoma
  • prostatic hypertrophy
  • urinary retention
