Nexium - esomeprazole magnesium works by blocking acid production in the stomach. Nexium is a medicine known as a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Nexium is used to treat acid-related stomach and throat (esophagus) problems, such as erosive esophagitis or acid reflux or GERD. Decreasing excess stomach acid can help relieve symptoms like heartburn, persistent cough, trouble sleeping and difficulty swallowing. Nexium contraindications * Nexium is contraindicated in people with hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation or to substituted benzimidazoles. The effects of a Nexium overdose will vary, depending on a number of factors, such as how much Nexium is taken. If an overdoses on Nexium occurs, the symptoms can vary. Symptoms of overdose may include: dry mouth, blurred vision, drowsiness, confusion, nausea, headache or increased heart rate (tachycardia). Nexium overdose treatment: There is no treatment that can remove Nexium more quickly from the body system. If Nexium overdose occurs to you, treatment involves supportive care, which refers to treating the symptoms that occur as a result of the overdose.
